Who's fronting won't affect hormones.
Avatar
So now your mad at everyone who had their wisdom teeth removed?
Avatar
No lol. Srn just happened to talk about how painless it was on .info soon after our experience.
11:56 PM
Possibly in one of our threads, I don't remember.
Avatar
I think gender is based on brain matter, so I was wondering how tulpas of the opposite gender would fit into that
11:56 PM
obviously, that's probably not going to be studied anytime soon
Avatar
It was on last one to post wins
Avatar
I don't think thinking you're another gender affects your brain in that way.
11:56 PM
Just your habits and thoughts and all.
11:56 PM
Not hormones.
Avatar
I didn't say anything about hormones
Avatar
And for those habits and thoughts, obviously ours are more feminine.
Avatar
just wondering how a tulpa can strongly identify as one gender despite their brain being the opposite
Avatar
I don't think those habits are special compared to any others that may or may not leak to other members/the host though.
11:57 PM
Oh. By not identifying with the body.
Avatar
tulpas are already known to be capable of having several different traits and characteristics than their host
11:57 PM
I don't see why gender wouldn't follow the same principle
Avatar
fair enough
Avatar
It's our body that we reside in - but normally that residence is just in the head. Fronting is treated as using Lumi's body, or "the body" by us.
Avatar
yeah there's a lot of
11:58 PM
interesting
11:58 PM
things going on with tulpa gender
11:58 PM
really hard to conceptualize
Avatar
Like I said earlier, we think of ourselves as males, but wouldn't go as far as to want to transition ever
Avatar
Even though we "identify" with it as far as fronting goes, we don't identify with it so far as to, say, treat the genitalia like it's ours.
11:59 PM
But for systems whose thoughts and habits do sort of leak to the others, I could see that being quite a mess.
11:59 PM
Especially in systems already having gender identity issues.
Avatar
Piano and Tacio are kind of uncomfortable with genitalia, which is why they never really wanted to front during sexual interactions and such
Avatar
Since Lumi is not, it's easy for us to just say "Not our body."
Avatar
im a trans girl with two trans guys in my system
Avatar
Apollo and I are fine with it though
Avatar
Well, Lucilyn and I are asexual.
Avatar
has lead to lots of confusion
Avatar
Perhaps similar to them then.
Avatar
...wait how do you have a trans tulpa
Avatar
they were created as female but became male
12:00 AM
of their own volition
Avatar
then they're just male, right?
12:00 AM
they're not transmales
Avatar
eh. they have transitioned in a sense
Avatar
they don't have to transition any physical body
Avatar
Sort of what I was talking about with the whole "LGBT gender identity stuff". You either have it in your head or you don't.
Avatar
transition is not just about physical, but mental state too.
Avatar
Someone who considers their tulpas trans (/their tulpas are "trans") rather than just changing forms like Clo, has it in their head.
12:00 AM
Hence why I specified for us.
12:01 AM
But if you're choosing that side, Indigo, then it's probably obvious where you sit too.
Avatar
I don't think a tulpa would be considered trans, since they're not shifting from the gender they were born as physically and raised as socially to the other gender, they're just changing their identity, yeah?
Avatar
Well, as Clara said, it's likely thought of completely differently in the cases of systems who worry about/believe in all that.
Avatar
Tbh, even as a politically conservative [don’t believe his lies he’s centrist] kinda guy, gender dysphasia is still a real thing, even among tups. They just have a much easier time of it because, y’know, shapeshifting.
Avatar
I'm not denying the existence of gender dysphoria
12:05 AM
I'm just not sure I would consider a tulpa "trans" if they changed genders
Avatar
its not really easier
12:06 AM
tbh none of you understand because you arent a trans tulpa
Avatar
I mean, do trans people themselves consider themselves trans in their heads, or do they just consider themselves the gender they identify as and physically trans?
Avatar
Nice, a no true Scotsman fallacy.
Avatar
go back to reddit
Avatar
anyway, how should i continue to explain this
12:07 AM
maybe i should let trent do it, as it is his life
Avatar
>tumblr tells 4chan to gb2reddit
12:07 AM
Okay then.
Avatar
we're just trying to have a discussion here, no need for anybody to be salty over other people's opinions
Avatar
good advice
12:08 AM
i have blolcked him to stop this from happening any further
Avatar
good for you?
Avatar
so as i said
12:08 AM
being trans is more than just the physical aspect, something that has taken me a while to discover
Avatar
Oh my god the memes are true.
Avatar
its a very big journey that works on many levels of your being
12:09 AM
it's not as simple as "lets turn that dick into a vagina"
Avatar
But like, I feel like on the inside, someone who transitions from male to female would just consider themselves female in their head, right? They wouldn't think "I'm a transwoman" they would think "I'm a woman"
Avatar
why not both? (edited)
12:09 AM
hmm... how do i say this without being very controversial
Avatar
do we need to worry about controversy? (edited)
Avatar
yes
12:10 AM
i dont want to set flames that dont need to be set
Avatar
fair nough
Avatar
saying you are a woman speaks of your current state, saying you are a trans woman speaks of your overall state: your past, your present, and perhaps your future
12:10 AM
personally, when people say "i am not a trans woman, i am a woman" i take that as not having accepted your past
12:10 AM
and that is entirely understandable
12:11 AM
but i think its important to acknowledge where you came from
12:11 AM
the social stigmas and constructions are different for men and women. if you grew up for any time as the wrong gender it will have some effect on you
Avatar
A tulpa's form is of and by the imagination, there is no need for a transition as there is in a physical body.
Avatar
That makes sense I suppose, though I don't know how important that would be for a tulpa
Avatar
it doesnt mean you are any less of a man/woman
12:12 AM
@Felight speaking for trent, he did not identify as a trans man for quite a while
Avatar
Like, if a tulpa is a girl for six months, then is a male, would they still consider themselves "transmale" 5 years later?
Avatar
he just identified as male, because he wasnt aware that sort of vocabulary applied
12:12 AM
yes, because the past had not changed
Avatar
or would it just be irrelevant by then?
Avatar
I mean, do trans people themselves consider themselves trans in their heads, or do they just consider themselves the gender they identify as and physically trans? Welcome to the entire problem of the transsexual community mindset. You've stumbled upon a unique answer that is somehow not apparent to the masses.
Avatar
trent has been a male for about... 80% of his lifetime
12:13 AM
yeah there is a lot of debate in the trans community on how to think about this subject so you're going to run into differing answers
12:13 AM
we believe what we have put forth so far
Avatar
The community beliefs about what being transsexual is like screws with them all. They need to stop thinking about genders at all. You are who you are. If you're male you're male, female you're female. You're not a hermaphrodite, but if you are, then you are.
12:13 AM
Gender identity is where all problems come from.

Avatar
A tulpa's past as the opposite gender probably isn't going to affect them very much, I wouldn't think
Avatar
oh, it does
12:13 AM
it really does
12:13 AM
not as much for tulpas
